let them help you make a chore list

Get your kids to sit down with you and talk through what chores need doing, when they need doing and who by. Sometimes you all might decide you should all do the same chore then branch off to do others around the home. You could all help each other out in making tea, giving them an input in what they’d like to eat, washing vegetables, peeling carrots or potato’s with a child friendly peeler. Put together a tick list with names against each chore, put stars next to their names for best little helper of the week to make it more fun too.

Get some child friendly cleaning tools

If you’re wanting them to help hoover, dust or help prepare dinner they’ll need some child friendly tools. Wet wipes are fantastic for most daily tasks, they also make child size cleaning tools to help you around the house.

rewards for good cleaning

Like mentioned earlier, a star chart for the best little helper of the week can be just a small reward for helping out around the home. Or the most popular one is let the kids choose what you do on your family night, whether its let them pick a movie they want to see, or go to their favorite restaurant, or even something as simple as what you’re all going to be watching on TV with their favorite meals.

All of this helps build you child’s independence and cognition, teaches them important life skills which will put your mind at ease as they get older and know how to look after themselves.
